Glandular odontogenic cyst/ Sialo-odontogenic cyst/ Mucoepidermoid odontogenic cyst: It is an unusual, solitary multilocular odontogenic cyst derived from cell rests of dental lamina consisiting of a stratified squamous epithelium containing numerous mucus secreting cells.

It has slight male predilection and mandibular anterior is the commonest site.The epithelium has a glandular or pseudoglandular structure with goblet cells as well as intraepithelial crypts.

 

  1. Calcifying Epithelial Odontogenic Cyst (Keratinizing and/or calcifying epithelial                                               odontogenic cyst, Gorlin cyst, cystic keratinizing tumor, dentinogenic ghost cell tumor)
  • It is a relatively uncommon odontogenic cystic lesion of the jaw bones.
  • There are three variants of this
  • Solid
  • Cystic
  • Malignant

 

  • Clinical features :
  • The cyst develops in the second decade of life affecting both the sexes equally; occuring in the anterior part of maxilla and mandible.
  • Bony, hard swelling of the jaw with expansion and distortion of cortical plates and displacement of regional teeth, are usually exhibited by this lesion.
