  1. Dental lamina cyst of the New born (Gingival Cyst of New born)
  • Multiple, small, nodular, keratin-filled, cystic lesions seen on the alveolar ridge of newborn or very young infants

 

  • Clinical features :
  • Multiple, asymptomatic, small, discrete, white nodules which develop in several parts of the oral cavity.
  • These lesions appear to be asymptomatic and do not produce discomfort in the infants.

 

  • Histopathological feature :
  • A small, keratin-filled cystic cavity lined by a thin epithelium.
  • Lumen is filled with desquamated keratin, occassionally containing inflammatory cells.
  • Dystrophic calcification and hyaline bodies of Rushton are also found in the lesion.

 

  • Treatment :

–     No treatment is required.
