At Ahead Academy Dental teaching is a fascinating challenge. Dental academicians have the obligation to practice and teach the latest trends in dentistry & introduce new ways of treatment.

As the dental profession enters the new millennium, it faces new educational, scientific and ethical challenges. Parents have the obligation to educate their children; teachers, the responsibility to instruct them.

Using distance education, web streaming, and video conferencing technologies, Ahead Academy is now able to offer multiple options for selected continuing education courses. Ahead Academy will continue to offer its standard style courses, bring innovative and informational programs to a live audience in a state-of-art educational facility.

Ahead Academy is a special place comprised of special people both teachers and our students. All are connected to the Ahead Academy in many ways.

Academicians who are leading experts in their disciplines;

Vast information resources and state-of-the-art equipment are available for students.

Discover a way of learning that develops your critical thinking, analytical abilities and curiosity.

Courses that enable you to develop high-level skills and advanced knowledge to further your career.

The teaching of posterior composites at AHEAD dental academy has substantially increased over the last five years. Dental students in these schools often gain more experience in the placement of posterior composites.

Our teachers recommend the minimally interceptive use of composite systems in the restoration of posterior teeth.

Dentistry Knowledge is a window to the world; as a result, education and instruction are the utopian construction of an ongoing medium for excelling. Students encourage this development, since they are intrinsically stimulating and motivating. They get sound long lasting foundation for enhancing their career prospects at the prestigious Ahead Academy.

To belong to the Ahead Academy faculty is an honor. To be able to teach at the Ahead Academy is a unique opportunity to repay, all that which has been received from the nation, from the community, and from the dental profession. Teaching awards prestige; academicians have the obligation to honor and dignify the teaching profession as well as the university.

Teaching is a dynamic process. It combines the theoretical with the practical. Dental teaching does not substitute private practice, but rather complements it. It is a wonderful medium to contribute to the formation of the future generations of dentists. At an academy, when the teaching profession advances, the whole institution grows. Teaching can only advance to the degree that its teachers wish to progress and have the desire to excel.

At the Ahead Academy there are teachers who teach with devotion, thus stimulating learning. This way, they effectively contribute to the formation of new generations of dentists. The rewards for being a dedicated, conscientious teacher are immense: the satisfaction of giving and helping, the pleasure of contributing to the country’s future by educating young people; the pride of serving the community; the pleasure of earning the warm affection and deep respect of grateful students.

As we move deeper into the 21st century, technology will continue to play a greater role in the way dentists communicate, work, deliver and offer package treatment plans to their patients. In clinical practice, dentists strive to provide the best possible restorative and prosthetic dentistry.
Cone beam computed tomography imaging represents a paradigm shift for enhancing diagnosis and treatment planning. Uses of cone beam tomography are, recognition of pathosis in the scan’s entire volume, adequate training, informed consent and/or refusal and current court status of cone been computed tomography. Judicious selection and prudent use of cone beam computed tomography technology to protect and promote patient safety and efficacious treatment complies with the standard of care.

As digital dentistry continues to grow, CAD/CAM Community stays wired into the latest in how computers can assist practitioners and reduce the challenges of restorative dentistry.Four-handed dentistry impacts dental assisting responsibilities and expanded functions.

Advancements in new dental technology offer better solutions for traditional oral health problems than ever before. The trend in dentistry is utilizing technology to make dentistry more comfortable, durable, efficient and natural-looking for the patient. Patients and their dentists benefit from newer techniques that are less invasive and more dependable than the years of past. Procedures that formerly took multiple trips to the dentist or required multiple health care providers can now be performed by one specialist.

CAD/CAM

Computer Assisted Design/Computer Assisted Manufacture Technologies In the dental world this advanced technology allows for the design and fabrication of dental restorations that resemble the look and feel of natural teeth. This type of new dental technology can be used for dental bridges, inlays/onlays, porcelain veneers, and crowns.

Laser Dentistry

The benefit of laser dentistry is that it offers a much less invasive alternative to many procedures. The light energy that is emitted from lasers results in a shortened and almost painless healing period. This option is commonly available for the treatment of benign tumors, cold sores, crown lengthening, decay removal, gummy smile changes, dental fillings, tongue tie and speech impediment improvements, nerve regeneration for damaged nerves and blood vessels and scars.

Oral Sedation Dentistry is being utilized by more and more dentists because it is both safe and effective. Compared to more traditional IV sedation, oral sedation requires no needles and the patient experiences a conscious state of mind and can respond to the dentist.

Dental Implants are the leading dental technology advancement because of their fit and function as replacements of a tooth root. The implants integrate with the jaw bone and the procedure can be done in almost any adult who needs missing teeth replaced.

CAT Scans

For dentists performing specialized procedures such as implants, 3-D imaging helps them to view and work on the jawbone or surrounding bone structure to produce more accurate results. Placing dental implants requires a precision touch and the CAT Scans provide dentists or Implantologists accurate imaging of where to place the restorative devices.

Digital X-rays

Besides the benefit of reducing exposure to radiation, digital radiographs allow images to be projected on a computer screen. This modern dental technique is also more comfortable and allows dentists to find problems with the teeth, mouth, and jaw.

Intraoral Camera

Intraoral cameras provide dentists with quality imaging equipment that can be used for patient education, higher case acceptance, and improved patient communication.

Composite Resins

Composite Resins are used in many restorations such as bonding and veneers. They offer the advantage over older technologies such as gold or amalgam because they are better refined to replicate tooth colors and tooth function. They are easier to apply and more durable than ever before.

Mini-implants are the new introduction in implant technology. Used primarily for dentures, a series of mini-implants are placed through the gums, and their posts are used to anchor the appliance into place. Mini-implants cause less pain and healing time, and normally cost less than traditional dental implants. These cutting edge dental implants also don’t need to wait on the healing process for the final step — patients can start wearing their replacement teeth right away.

There’s pre-med, pre-dental, biology, biochemistry. Then you take what they call the DAT–Dental Admissions Test. And what they’re looking for is in certain areas you’ve got to score a certain percentile, and that’s what dental schools look for. Not your grades, not your extracurricular activities, but what you score on this test. I took the–I cleared as an undergrad, took the test, scored well in it, but I decided to stay and finish my degree, and take in the rest of college life, and ended up leaving college with two degrees in biology and biochemistry. Then I went to Baylor Dental School from there and spent the next four years there. So, total I ended up spending five years undergrad, four years at dental school, so nine years. There is some ways to do it in seven years. It kind of depends how quickly you want to get in and get out.

The first College for Dentistry of world has been established in 1840, the Baltimore College of Dental Surgery, was established. During the next three decades, other schools were started in Cincinnati, Philadelphia, Boston, New York, and other cities.

During the twentieth century, advances in dentistry have been astonishing. The development of both local and general anesthesia has changed the practice of dentistry, from the patient’s point of view, from an agonizing experience to one that is only occasionally unpleasant. Experiments in the use of vulcanized rubber; porcelain and various kinds of plastic have brought artificial teeth into a price range the masses can afford. Most recently, it has been found that tooth decay in children can be lessened by adding a small amount of fluorine to the community’s water supply or the topical use of fluoride stannous fluoride, or the like.

The government has begun to recognize fully the real value of good national dental health and felt the necessity of Colleges for Dentistry. More and more money each year is being granted for the purpose of dental research in hospitals and dental colleges.

Dentistry is a medical subspecialty and the duration of its study is 5 years that also includes a year of internship. The history of dentistry in India dates back to 1928 when Dr. Rafiuddin Ahmed established the first dental college in Asia, in the city of Calcutta. Since then dental colleges in India have grown in not only the number but also the variety of dental related fields and specializations. The Dental Council of India regulates these colleges that are located in several parts of the country. It is interesting to note that the Indian youth prefer the BDS (Bachelors in Dental Sciences) course due to its worldwide career prospects. There are more than 250 recognised Dental Colleges in India from where around 10,000 dentists graduate every year & over 2,000 students get their postgraduate degrees in various specialties.

Colleges for Dentistry do a wonderful job in preparing their students for a successful professional career. They also to teach future dentists how to encourage their patients to request dental treatments based on sound scientific knowledge. Dental colleges should also constantly emphasize that prevention is the Science of the Future.

Many of the changes that can be expected in our profession will be due to advances brought about by studies in dental and medical basic sciences. Others will be the consequence of new understanding about disease mechanisms & will be due to modifications in the social environment in which dentistry carries out its functions

Academicians must encourage in students the desire to do good work, to honor their word, to be sincere and honest, to be concerned about others, to promote healthy and loyal competition, and to strive for harmonious relations. Teaching these concepts must be a part of the program at Colleges for Dentistry.

New technologies in equipment, materials and procedures make the field an ever-evolving art that few have mastered.
Ahead Academy offers unique programs that train dentists and dental teams in the latest Cosmetic Dentistry techniques and procedures in a productive, knowledge sharing, hands-on environment perfect for an excellent educational experience, students can opt for further specializations in their post-graduation or start practicing.

Cosmetic Dentistry is generally used to refer to any dental work that improves the appearance of a person’s teeth, gums and bite.

Cosmetic Dentistry may involve dozen of things in it:

The addition of a dental material to teeth or gums – examples: bonding, porcelain veneers (laminates), crowns (caps), and gum grafts

The removal of tooth structure or gums – examples: enameloplasty etc., gingivectomy

Neither adding nor removing dental materials, tooth structure or gums – examples: teeth whitening (bleaching).

Straightening of teeth accompanied by improvement in appearance of face Orthodontics.

Whitening, or “tooth bleaching”, is the most common cosmetic dental procedure. While many whitening options are now available, including over the counter products, dentist-supervised treatments remain the recommended procedures for lightening discolored teeth.

Teeth reshaping (sculpting) and bonding performed in one office visit.

Tooth reshaping removes parts of the enamel to improve the appearance of the tooth. It may be used to correct a small chip, or to alter the length, shape or position of teeth; it can be used to correct crooked or excessively long teeth. The removed enamel is irreplaceable, and may sometimes expose dentin. It is also known asenameloplasty, odontoplasty, contouring. This procedure offers fast results and can even be a substitute for braces under certain circumstances.

Bonding is a process in which an enamel-like dental composite material is applied to a tooth’s surface, sculpted into shape, hardened and then polished.

Dental bridges are false teeth, known as a pontics, which are fused between two porcelain crowns to fill in the area left by a missing tooth. The two crowns holding it in place that are attached onto your teeth on each side of the false tooth. This is known as a fixed bridge. This procedure is used to replace one or more missing teeth. Fixed bridges cannot be taken out of your mouth as you might do with removable partial dentures.

Veneers are ultra-thin, custom-made porcelain laminates that are bonded directly to the teeth. They are an option for closing gaps or disguising discolored teeth that do not respond well to whitening procedures. Depending on the procedure, tooth reduction may be necessary.

Gum lift is a cosmetic dental procedure that raises and sculpts the gum line. The procedure involves reshaping the tissue and/or underlying bones to create the appearance of longer or more symmetrical teeth.

Bite Reclamation Patients who have had years of excessive wear to their teeth due to grinding or acid reflux can alter their vertical dimension. This gives them a closed or shorter look to their face and smile. By opening up their bite, a qualified professional can reclaim their vertical dimension and sometimes even remove unwanted wrinkles as well.

Ahead Academy provides the complete course curriculum in study of cosmetic dentistry which is based upon the contemporary requirement of people. You will get the in depth knowledge for the course and that will help you to make a growing career in arena of dentistry.
